SWEET FOUNDATION DOUGH

INGREDIENTS:

2 pkg dry yeast

 

½ C. lukewarm water

 

¼ C. butter

 

¾ C. scalded milk

 

½ C. sugar

 

1 t. salt

 

2 eggs (beaten)

 

5 C. flour

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

Soften yeast in lukewarm water.  Scald milk, add butter, sugar and salt and cool to lukewarm.  Add flour to make a thick batter, then add yeast and eggs and beat well.  Add enough flour to make a soft dough that can be kneaded.  Turn out onto a lightly floured board and knead until smooth and satiny.  Place in a lightly greased bowl, cover and let rise until double in bulk, about 2 hrs.  When right, punch down and shape as desired.  Let rise until double, ½ to ¾ hr.  Bake in a 350 F. oven for 25 – 30 minutes.
